Entering the first week of the AFL finals, coaches are required to make some big calls, with plenty riding on all four matches.
As some key players return from injuries, others may find themselves watching on from the grandstand in a cruel but perhaps necessary decision made for the side.
Dustin Martin has almost been locked to play in Thursday night's elimination final, as Richmond take on Brisbane at the Gabba.
Martin hasn't played since round 16 but is expected to line up against the Lions, with the unlucky Tyler Sonsie to make space for the Brownlow Medalist.
Despite playing the last six matches, Sonsie is set to be sidelined for the crucial final clash as Richmond are setting themselves for a big Septemeber.
Collingwood's Finlay Macrae is the most likely to make room for the returning Taylor Adams, as the Pies prepare themselves for a qualifying final against Geelong.
Macrae came in for the round 23 clash with Carlton after tremendous form in the VFL while Adams was absent.
However, the vice-captain is set to get the tick of approval to return from a groin injury that's sidelined him since round 20, resulting in the 20-year-old being replaced.
Esava Ratugolea is another victim of the chopping block, with a host of Cats set to return for the Saturday afternoon matchup with Collingwood.
With Jeremy Cameron, Mitch Duncan and Rhys Stanley to return from the round 23 side, Ratugolea looks the likely casualty, with Jon Ceglar another one Chris Scott may cull.
Melbourne's former good luck charm Jake Bowey is expected to find himself out of the best 22, as Christian Salem is set to take his place in the senior side.
Bowey - who won 17 games in a row before a loss - fell out of favour after the round 17 loss to Geelong but managed to be selected for the final round.
However, Salem's imminent return to the half back will result in the 19-year-old making way.
