AFL Round 19 Betting Tips: Brisbane to recover at home, GWS value at the line image

It's another huge AFL weekend with Port Adelaide hosting Collingwood in a top-of-the-table battle at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Life won't get any easier for Brisbane as they attempt to recover from last week's soul-crushing defeat to Melbourne by welcoming Geelong to the Gabba.

While Essendon and Western Bulldogs promises to be a cracker on Friday night at Marvel.

The Sporting News gives you the best betting tips for Round 19.

Odds courtesy of Bluebet.

Last week, we scored two of our nine predictions.

There were several close calls that skewed the results in a negative direction including Melbourne's win, Gold Coast's margin and also the winning amounts for Hawthorn and Richmond.

Essendon (8th) vs Western Bulldogs (7th) best bet

The Bulldogs have been installed as favourites but the Bombers have been impressive at Marvel Stadium this season.

There might be some value on Essendon to win or at the line but it's going to be a tight game.

Zach Merrett struggled against Geelong last week, only gathering 19 disposals.

We like the Bombers skipper to bounce back with 30-plus this week under the roof.

Zach Merrett 30+ disposals - $1.80

Richmond (11th) vs Hawthorn (16th) best bet

Richmond are strong favourites to win against Hawthorn, and have been building form over the last month.

Few of the Tigers wins, however, have been blowouts. A 38-point win over the Eagles in Round 18 was their biggest win since June, and didn't compare to the usual thrashing of West Coast this year.

Hawthorn was respectable against GWS, and came out with a win against North Melbourne in its most recent showing.

There's some value in Richmond taking it out under a margin of 40 points.

Richmond Margin (1-39) - $2.10

Carlton (10th) vs West Coast (18th) best bet

The Blues are up-and-about with four wins in a row above 50 points.

There is no reason why this trend won't continue at the MCG against the struggling Eagles.

The line is -65.5 points and you can expect the flying Blues to cover it comfortably - if they turn up.

Carlton -65.5 points - $1.90

Brisbane Lions (3rd) vs Geelong (5th) best bet

Brisbane lost in the dying moments last week, as Melbourne surged home with the last four goals.

It's a totally different scenario this week, where the Lions play at the Gabba — an oval they're yet to be beaten at this year.

Geelong is in fine form but should be evenly matched by Brisbane, who recall star midfielder Josh Dunkley this week.

The line is -5.5 points or just one goal, and the Lions should beat that.

Brisbane -5.5 points - $1.90

Fremantle (15th) vs Sydney (14th) best bet

The last dance for one of these teams in regards to finals.

Neither team is particularly high scoring and it's a tough game to pick a winner.

Either team under 24.5 points seems a smart bet with the likelihood of how the contest will be played out.

Triple Margin II Any other result (both teams to win under 24.5 points) - $1.72

Port Adelaide (2nd) vs Collingwood (1st) best bet

Neither team seems an obvious pick as a winner, with both Collingwood and Port Adelaide dominating the competition this year.

The man who made the difference for the Magpies earlier in the year at Adelaide Oval, Steel Sidebottom, will play his second game since returning from a knee injury.

The 32-year-old had 18 disposals in his first game back but has fallen below 20 just twice during the season.

We're backing Sidebottom to play a bigger role this week in a massive game.

Steele Sidebottom 20+ disposals - $1.85

GWS (9th) vs Gold Coast (13th) best bet

The Giants have won five games in a row and have hauled themselves up into finals contention.

The line is only -8.5 points and with GWS flying, it seems like an attainable margin.

Gold Coast improved against St Kilda last week but was that just the new coach bounce?

GWS -8.5 points - $1.90

Melbourne (4th) vs Adelaide (12th) best bet

In just one MCG game this season, Adelaide took it right up to league-leaders Collingwood and fell short by only two points.

Melbourne's form is starting to pick up, but the ability of the forward line is still in question. If it turns into a firefight, the Crows can easily match the Demons for goal-scoring potential.

While Melbourne should get it done at home, it should be an entertaining, closely-fought game.

Triple Margin II Any other result (both teams to win under 24.5 points) - $1.97

- Bryn Wakefield

St Kilda (6th) vs North Melbourne (17th) best bet

North Melbourne are really struggling and are crippled by injury further after the Hawks defeat.

St Kilda aren't going too well either but their season is on the line after a horrible performance against the Suns.

Saints should cover their line with North Melbourne just missing too many personnel.

St Kilda -33.5 points - $1.90
