AFL Round 14 Betting Predictions: Geelong, Richmond forwards to kick goals; Gold Coast, Sydney to win image

Kicking round 14 off with a Thursday night blockbuster between Richmond and Carlton.

The Tigers are starting off as favourites, especially with the inclusion of Tom Lynch into the side whilst the Blues' defence is relying on mid-season draft pick Sam Durdin to do the heavy lifting.

St Kilda hosts Essendon at Marvel Stadium and is expected to bounce back after their loss to Brisbane.

Geelong travels to Optus Stadium to take on West Coast in a predicted one-sided affair, whilst Port Adelaide face Sydney at Adelaide Oval.

The modern-day rivalry between GWS and Western Bulldogs continues on Saturday night.

Here at The Sporting News, we've put together our betting predictions for round 14:

Last week, we scored with three of our six predictions, with Will Brodie falling short of predicted disposals, Jordan De Goey was goalless in the Queen's Birthday clash and Charlie Cameron kicked one major but not the two.

Richmond (9th) vs Carlton (4th)

Both sides have won four of their past five and are in some considerable form.

Carlton do have an undermanned defensive unit but rely on their midfield to win the ball and forward line to kick a winning score.

Richmond welcome back Tom Lynch, who was initially challenging Charlie Curnow for the Coleman Medal lead prior to his injury.

For the Tigers to win this match, the forward line must make most of the absence of Jacob Weitering, Mitch McGovern and Caleb Marchbank.

Lynch averages three goals in 2022 and we're predicting he'll hit his mark against the Blues.

Tom Lynch 2+ goals - $1.38

St Kilda (6th) vs Essendon (16th)

Essendon have lost their last four matches, but have been competitive in the past fortnight, falling to Port Adelaide and Carlton in decent outings.

St Kilda weren't able to match Brisbane up at the Gabba and will look to Friday night's match as a percentage booster and one step closer to a top four finish.

Jack Sinclair is on All-Australian pace in 2022, averaging 28 touches and being one of the more dominant half backs in the competition.

In perfect conditions under Marvel Stadium, the Saints will look to get the ball in Sinclair's hands in hope he breaks lines with speed and elite ball use.

The last four games has resulted in 30 plus disposals for the number 35 and we think he'll continue his impressive form.

Port Adelaide (12th) vs Sydney (7th)

Sydney have got their season back on track with two impressive wins against Richmond and Melbourne before the bye.

After a very slow start, Port Adelaide have given themselves a chance for finals but will need everything to go right from here on in, including a win against the Swans at home.

In what we think will be a close one, it'll come down to who takes their chances in front of goal.

However, the return of Lance Franklin and the form of Sam Reid and Logan McDonald may be too much to handle for the Power.

Sydney Swans line (-1.5) - $1.90

West Coast (18th) vs Geelong (5th)

West Coast is hoping they'll regain some of the premiership heroes from 2018, with Dom Sheed, Willie Rioli and Liam Ryan all playing WAFL last week.

Geelong has been in stellar touch, winning four of their last five including the narrow loss to St Kilda and will look to extend their streak.

In their 97-point romping of the Eagles last year, Cat forwards Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins both kicked three goals each as well as assisting teammates to more majors in the one-sided affair.

Both have also been in All-Australian contention in 2022, with both slotting over 30 goals so far this year and being dominant for Geelong.

GWS (13th) vs Western Bulldogs (10th)

Since Mark McVeigh took over as coach, the Giants have won two of their matches and fell just short of current ladder leaders Brisbane Lions by 14 points.

Western Bulldogs have been impressive in the last month, despite losing to Geelong before the bye.

In what has turned into a modern-day rivalry which began in 2016, the clash between these two sides is generally filled with fire, brawls and on-field drama.

The Dogs have had the upper-hand recently and will need to take the four points if they're to keep their September chances alive.

Jack Macrae's last four matches against GWS has been nothing short of superb, averaging 34 touches and six tackles and has matched that standard in 2022.

Jack Macrae 30+ disposals - $1.52

Gold Coast (11th) vs Adelaide (15th)

Gold Coast are finally reaping some rewards after many years of turmoil and have put themselves in a position to play finals for the first time in their history.

Adelaide snapped a five-match losing streak with its 31-point win over West Coast prior to the bye and will be a challenge for the flying Suns.

Both sides are returning from the week off and will look to gain some momentum heading into the back half of the year.

The Suns have only beaten the Crows once in their time and are poised to add to that, led by captains Touk Miller and Jarrod Witts' incredible form in 2022.

Gold Coast to win - $1.16
