Entering the first week of the bye rounds, it will be kicked off by an intriguing clash at Marvel Stadium between the Bulldogs and the Cats.

Melbourne will face Sydney at the MCG after losing their first game for the season against the Dockers, whilst the Pies face the Hawks on Sunday.

However, arguably the game of the round is Fremantle hosting the Lions at Optus Stadium in a top-four clash.

Here at The Sporting News, these are our betting predictions for round 12:

Last week, we scored five of our nine predictions, with Charlie Cameron, Jack Ginnivan and Mitch Lewis kept to only one goal each whilst Jayden Short was limited to under 25 touches.

Western Bulldogs (8th) vs Geelong (6th)

Recently, the encounters between the Dogs and the Cats have been close, with the last three matches winning margins being 16 points or less, including a Gary Rohan shot after the siren to win the game.

All-Australian smoky Tyson Stengle has had a terrific start to his career with Geelong, playing all 11 games this season and kicking 23 goals in the while.

Stengle has kicked six goals in the last two weeks and 10 majors in the last month, fixing Chris Scotts' small forward troubles that caused issues in the past.

The former Crow will likely find his way on the scoreboard and score multiple goals like he's done in seven of the matches this year.

Tyson Stengle 2+ goals - $1.70

Adelaide (15th) vs West Coast (18th)

West Coast's year has gone from bad to worse, suffering yet another defeat by over 100 points last week and only managing one solitary win.

Adelaide's season continues to slip away, with little to no improvement shown from the young list, resulting in five consecutive losses.

Crows' Rory Laird has gone under the radar in 2022, averaging over 32 touches a game and only dropping under 30 twice in his eight games.

Laird's year has been one of few shining lights for coach Matthew Nicks and we'll back him to continue his stellar form.

Gold Coast (12th) vs North Melbourne (17th)

Gold Coast's last month has been nothing short of impressive, defeating premiership fancies Sydney and Fremantle on their way to five wins.

Co-captain Touk Miller has been a big part of the Suns' rise and potential tilt at finals in 2022, elevating his game to new heights and being one of the game's best two-way runners.

Miller's last fortnight has been quiet by his lofty standards, however, we'd expect him to bounce back against the Kangaroos.

Touk Miller 25+ disposals - $1.15

Melbourne (1st) vs Sydney (7th)

Melbourne suffered their first loss against the Dockers last week and come up against a tough opponent in the Swans.

Both teams will be without some stars, with Steven May (concussion) and Lance Franklin (suspension) not taking their place in their respective sides.

However, Demon and Brownlow fancy Clayton Oliver has been in magnificent form, averaging 34 possessions a game and looking likely to challenge Patrick Cripps and Lachie Neale come AFL's night of nights.

Oliver has only twice dropped under 30 touches, including a 29-disposal performance against the Eagles in round 9, but we expect him to keep his average up.

Clayton Oliver 30+ disposals - $1.28

Hawthorn (13th) vs Collingwood (10th)

Collingwood have surprised the AFL world, knocking off Fremantle and Carlton in consecutive weeks, and come into this match as favourites.

The Hawks have hit a rough patch recently, losing four of their last five despite their win against the Lions.

Jack Ginnivan was uncharacteristically quiet last week and was goalless for the first time this year, struggling to get into the game.

Ginnivan has been ultra-impressive in 2022, kicking 19 goals in his nine games, and will look to respond.

Jack Ginnivan 2+ goals - $1.58

Fremantle (3rd) vs Brisbane (2nd)

Arguably the game of the round, Fremantle regained some form against the Demons after losing to Gold Coast and the Pies.

The Lions have been near faultless recently, only going down to Hawthorn by five points and will look to knock off a contender away from home.

This game will have stars on every line, with the best defensive team playing against the best offensive team, in what should be a close encounter.

With not much splitting these two sides, the club that'll win will be the one who takes most of their opportunities in front of goal.

Brisbane to win - $1.95
