Entering the preliminary finals, there's only four teams remaining, with Collingwood and Brisbane joining Sydney and Geelong in the penultimate week.
The Lions and Melbourne had two battles over the weekend, with both clubs taking a win each.
Casey Scorpions smashed Brisbane's reserves side to book themselves a spot in the VFL Grand Final.
Gold Coast's twos were unable to match Casey's success, losing to fellow Queensland side Southport over the weekend.
Adelaide's SANFL side also fell short in the preliminary final, going down to Norwood by 11 points.
Peel Thunder (Fremantle's affiliate) kept their premiership dream alive after defeating South Fremantle in an upset.

With Brisbane the only side still in the hunt for an AFL premiership whilst their reserves played over the weekend, the chance to impress the coaches is limited to the training track.
Craig McRae (Collingwood), John Longmire (Sydney) and Chris Scott (Geelong) will all need to make their decisions based on past performances and match ups heading into the crucial preliminary final clashes.
However, Lions coach Chris Fagan did have the opportunity to see some fringe players put their best foot forward in the VFL over the weekend.
Mitch Robinson and Rhys Mathieson were arguably the best in the Lions' defeat at the hands of Casey on Saturday afternoon.
Robinson gathered 29 disposals, six tackles and five clearances to put his hand up for selection.
Mathieson also didn't do himself any harm with his performance, kicking a goal from his 23 touches and three clearances in a trying display.
The pair at times have fallen behind the likes of midfielders Lachie Neale, Dayne Zorko, Hugh McCluggage, Cam Rayner and Jarrod Berry, but still remain a chance given the latter's potential suspension.
If Berry were to miss, coach Chris Fagan could bring in a returning Oscar McInernery (concussion) or opt to go with another midfielder, with Mathieson the more likely of the two.
Joe Daniher is also expected to be available after he was a late out due to his partner giving birth.
