Collingwood player ratings - AFL Grand Final
Pat Lipinski - 6
Brought into the game in the second quarter due to Nathan Murphy's concussion concern, and was solid with 16 disposals at 81 per cent efficiency.
Jordan De Goey - 8
Struggled to get going early but finished the game with two brilliant finishes from 50 metres. Despite heavy Brisbane attention, De Goey managed to win 18 disposals, seven contested.
Isaac Quaynor - 7
Quaynor took five marks and contributed to a strong team effort on Charlie Cameron. The young star added some offensive value with four score involvements and a goal assist, too.
Brayden Maynard - 7
Maynard kept Cameron possession-less in the first before the Brisbane star got away for three majors. relatively quiet with 13 disposals for the day.
Jamie Elliot - 6
Seemed to struggle in the early stages of the game and didn't quite have the impact he's known for, but was dangerous with eight score involvements.
Tom Mitchell - 9
Mitchell was able to neutralise Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale for most of the game, holding the Brisbane star to 21 disposals, while winning 24 of his own.
Josh Daicos - 6
A strong performance from the older Daicos brother, who covered the round well and contributed 17 disposals on a wing.
Scott Pendlebury - 8
Pendlebury ages like fine wine. At 35 years of age, the Collingwood legend kicked his first goal in a grand final and was among the top possession-winners with 24 disposals.
Darcy Cameron - 7
The Magpies ruckman finished the game well, finishing fourth in total contested possessions with 10 and forming a one-two punch with Mason Cox.
Billy Frampton - 5
Offensively, Frampton had minimal impact. But, as a replacement for Dan McStay, the 201cm defender-come-forward was able to keep Brisbane's Harris Andrews quiet in the first half.
Steele Sidebottom - 8
Had a solid day that was made special with a game-sealing goal with five minutes to go. Potentially a perfect finish to the 32-year-old's AFL career.
Bobby Hill - 10
Took the mark of the match with his hanger on Brisbane's Brandon Starcevich and finished with a career-best four goals. Oh, and a Norm Smith Medal.
Hill has been an amazing pickup for the Magpies, performing well across all three finals games for his new club.
Jack Crisp - 9
An excellent 25-disposal, two-goal game from Collingwood's Mr. Consistent. Produced a vital outside-50 goal from the forward flank to keep Collingwood within range in the second term.
Nathan Murphy - 5
Heartbreak for Murphy, who was substituted out of the game with concussion symptoms in the first term. The key defender looked capable of a lockdown role on Hipwood or Daniher.
Darcy Moore - 6
It was a relatively quiet match for the Magpie skipper, who had just three intercept possessions for the day. Moore and Daniher had a great battle, with the Lions forward finishing with three goals.
Beau McCreery - 7
McCreery had a typically hardworking, lively performance in the big dance. Created eight scoring shots and made two important tackles inside 50.
Will Hoskin-Elliot - 6
Worked hard defensively as he so often does, while getting in and under for seven contested possessions.
Jack Ginnivan - 5
Ginnivan got the promotion to the best 22 for the grand final, and wasn't able to hit the scoreboard as he would've liked. A narrowly missed dribbler from the pocket would've set the crowd alight if it went through.
Nick Daicos - 9
Converted the first goal of the match and never looked back. The second-year phenom led all players for disposals (29) and was back at his explosive, skilful best.
Oleg Markov - 7
Only recorded 12 disposals for the day, but impressed with his hard tackling and strong one-on-one play in a performance that warranted his selection.
Jeremy Howe - 9
Howe got the job on Eric Hipwood after Murphy went down, and passed with flying colours. Won plenty of his own ball with 24 disposals and nine marks – easily one of Collingwood's best.
Brody Mihocek - 7
Finished the day with six marks and a goal and kept the ball going to the ground for the lively Collingwood smalls and midfielders.
Mason Cox - 7
In his second Grand Final appearance, Cox missed chances to swing the game but beat Oscar McInerney in the ruck contests. Finished with 31 hitouts and two behinds.
