This year's AFL grand final was declared a sell-out days before the first bounce on Saturday afternoon.

The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground was again the host venue for the 2024 decider, which saw Sydney and Brisbane go head-to-head.

Confirmed attendance for 2024 AFL grand final

Saturday's attendance at the MCG has been confirmed as 100,013

That is smaller compared to last year's figure of 100,024, impressive when considering neither of the participating teams are based in Melbourne.

Eight of the last 10 grand finals have been played at the MCG.

COVID-19-related restrictions saw the 2020 decider played in Brisbane at the Gabba, before it moved west to Perth the following year.
