AFL flag possibilities: Richmond favourite, but Port Adelaide still a chance image

Port Adelaide fans don’t despair.

AFL statistical gurus Champion Data have updated the possibilities of each club winning the 2018 premiership and there’s good news for the Power – they’re still a chance!

After running through all the permutations and combinations from the last home and away round and then all possible match ups through the finals, Port has a 0.03% chance of taking out this year’s flag.

Not unexpectedly Richmond is considered most likely to be on the winner’s dais with a 27% likelihood, followed by Collingwood, despite the Magpies currently sitting in third place on the AFL ladder.

The vagaries of home finals, double chances and the Grand Final being played at the MCG then sees a few anomalies, with eighth-placed Geelong the third-most favoured to salute.

Being in second spot and with just lowly Brisbane between them and a guaranteed first week at Optus Stadium doesn’t seem to help West Coast, which somehow slips down to being the seventh most-likely premier with just an eight percent chance.
