The Brownlow Medal race is heating up with three clear favourites staking their claims to win the prestigious individual award, but up to six players potentially seen on stage at the end of the night.

Melbourne's Clayton Oliver, Fremantle's Andrew Brayshaw and Brisbane's Lachie Neale are predicted to poll well on the AFL's night of nights whilst Carlton pair Patrick Cripps and Touk Miller would also be worthy winners.

Young gun and Rising Star lock Nick Daicos may also surprise punters in his first year at the elite level, while Rory Laird should be recognised for his efforts.

In what is predicted to be a close count, we thought we'd look at your club's best hope to take home the Brownlow.

Adelaide

Rory Laird

Laird has been excellent in 2022, averaging 34 touches a game, eight tackles and seven clearances as one of the standouts for the Crows.

The 28-year-old began his career in the back pocket but the move to the midfield has been a stroke of genius, as he rarely gets beaten and is defensively minded.

Despite Adelaide only winning seven games so far, Laird could poll well but will struggle to make a genuine push for the Brownlow.

Ben Keays also experienced a great first half of the year where the umpires may recognise his efforts.

Rory Laird - $41

Brisbane

Lachie Neale

Tipped to win his second Brownlow in three years, Neale's season is arguably better than his 2020 year.

Averaging 31 possessions, seven clearance and four tackles, the former Docker has taken his game to new heights, beating tags and constantly being involved in the scoring chain.

Neale jumped out of the gates in the first half of the year and is expected to be one of the leaders.

Brisbane have won plenty of games which is usually a good start for Brownlow fancies as the winning side more often than not dominates the voting.

Hugh McCluggage has also had a strong season but is a fair bit off the pace compared to the leaders.

Lachie Neale - $3.00

Carlton

Patrick Cripps

Cripps could be Carlton's first Brownlow Medal winner since Chris Judd back in 2010 after a dominant start to the season.

Aside from his injury in round four, the 27-year-old had more than 30 touches and at least one goal in the opening eight matches, where he was arguably best on ground.

The Blues' resurgence into finals calculations had been on the back of their skipper and Cripps could be rewarded with the highest individual honour in our game.

Returning back to his dominant self, the number nine has evolved his game in 2022 and reached new heights, reflected in his chances for the Brownlow.

Sam Walsh is also a smoky for 'Charlie' this year, averaging 32 possessions, seven score involvements and four clearances, following an impressive 2021 campaign that resulted in 30 votes.

Patrick Cripps - $5.50

Collingwood

Nick Daicos

Although is his first year at AFL level, the younger Daicos has burst onto the scene and is symbolic of Collingwood's rise from 17th position in 2021 to the top four.

Averaging a staggering 27 touches at 77 per cent efficiency and five score involvements, the 19-year-old has been deployed all over the ground, proving to be damaging anywhere.

Daicos was the unanimous winner of the Rising Star, receiving maximum votes for the award and was unlucky to miss out on All-Australian selection.

Despite his age and inexperience at the level, this son-of-a-gun should be included in conversations consisting of some of the best players in the league, which could be the Brownlow.

Jack Crisp will also poll votes early on as the running machine was dominant in the early stages of Collingwood's return to form.

Nick Daicos - $101

Essendon

Zach Merrett

Merrett's 2022 season has been ultra impressive, despite the Bombers being utterly disappointing.

Aside from the first encounter with Sydney in round nine, the 26-year-old has gathered 24 disposals or more, as well as averaging seven score involvements, four tackles and four clearances.

His last month of football has been superb, with predictors expecting him to poll in most games.

Fairly off the league leaders, Merrett is still performing at a high level and will hope his team will bounce back in 2023.

Darcy Parish burst out of the gates in the first half of the season before a crippling calf and achilles complaint has sidelined him.

Zach Merrett - $201

Fremantle

Andrew Brayshaw

One of the favourites to take home 'Charlie', Brayshaw has exceeded all expectations and has driven the Dockers to premiership contention with his ability to run both ways as a hard-working midfielder.

The 22-year-old has skyrocketed into genuine Brownlow contention for his 30 possessions, six tackle and four clearance game average in 2022.

Since being drafted with pick two in 2017, Brayshaw's fate was almost sealed as he was predicted to be an outright star but no one expected him to be one at such a young age.

The next captain of the Dockers, the younger brother of Demon, Angus, is well and truly in the mix on the AFL's night of nights.

His partner-in-crime Will Brodie will also poll well.

Andrew Brayshaw - $8

Geelong

Jeremy Cameron

Labelled as the game's best player, Cameron seems to be getting better each week and adding more strings to his bow, playing further up the ground to evade opponents.

The former Giants star has kicked 59 goals this year along with 16 disposals, six marks and eight score involvements, similar to his 2019 Coleman Medal year.

Cameron looks to be the key to Geelong's premiership chances, as they've fallen agonisingly short in recent years.

The 29-year-old is poised to vote well in the Brownlow, kicking four or more goals in six games and being the most dangerous player on the ground.

Cam Guthrie is looking the be the next Geelong player after Cameron, although Tom Hawkins and Mitch Duncan tend to be recognised.

Jeremy Cameron - $51

Gold Coast

Touk Miller

The hard-working Miller has continued his 2021 All-Australian form into 2022, leading from the front as the Suns just missed out on finals.

The 26-year-old is known for his toughness and team-orientated gameplay, aiming to bring his teammates into the game.

Miller has been superb for Gold Coast over a long stretch and is slowly receiving recognition for his efforts.

Tipped to be within the top 10 come Brownlow night, the Suns captain could surprise a few with how many votes he may poll.

Noah Anderson also enjoyed a breakout year.

Touk Miller - $8

GWS

Stephen Coniglio

It is safe to say that Coniglio has returned to his best, after a disappointing couple of years that resulted in him being dropped from the senior side.

The skipper is averaging 25 touches playing predominantly midfield while also hitting the scoreboard frequently.

The Giants themselves have had a disappointing 2022 season, winning only six matches but will be impressed with how Coniglio has bounced back.

Tom Green and Toby Greene will be recognised.

Stephen Coniglio - N/A

Hawthorn

Jai Newcombe

With no one from Hawthorn really testing the other contenders, Newcombe is likely to be the leading vote getter from the club.

Initially up there as a Rising Star favourite before tapering away late in the season, the mid-season draft pick has been super impressive, taking on more responsibility in the midfield.

Amidst the rebuild, Newcombe has found his spot at the elite level and with plenty of upside, he'll be a strong player in the brown-and-gold for a long time.

James Sicily and Mitchell Lewis are bound to collect votes from the umpires.

Melbourne

Clayton Oliver

One of the Brownlow favourites, Oliver is tipped to have a nervous night as he waits to hear whether or not his name gets called out after the completion of round 23.

A fractured thumb placed a minor speed bump in the Demon's charge to the prestigious award, but is still well placed to be amongst the top.

Putting up career-best figures, Oliver has been averaging 35 possessions and eight clearances a game, elevating his game from purely an accumulator to a damaging midfielder who puts teammates in better positions.

Early word, but wouldn't be a surprise if he wins.

Christian Petracca will also be up there in the 2022 count.

Clayton Oliver - $3.50

North Melbourne

Luke Davies-Uniacke

Not much good news has come out of Arden St in 2022, however, Davies-Uniacke continues to impress fans and footy lovers.

Collecting 24 disposals a game along with five tackles and five clearances, the 23-year-old is expected to be the Kangaroos' highest poll getter come the famous night before the AFL Grand Final.

In a struggling team, Davies-Uniacke has been a shining light for the Shinboners and is in line to be the next captain of the club.

Nick Larkey has put together bags of goals in 2022. A few votes should go to him.

Luke Davies-Uniacke - N/A

Port Adelaide

Connor Rozee

Rozee's last two months of football has Port Adelaide supporters excited, as the classy on-baller has showcased his brilliance in the middle of the ground.

In his last seven outings, the 22-year-old has had at least 20 touches and one goal in every game, putting him in rare air.

Rozee finished fourth in the Coaches Association with 88 votes, putting a strong second half to the season.

The young star is the future of the Power and is hinting at what he can do.

His best game was against GWS, when he kicked four and had 24.

Connor Rozee

Travis Boak and Ollie Wines are likely to be rewarded for their efforts also.

Connor Rozee - $151

Richmond

Dion Prestia

Prestia's 2022 campaign has gone quietly underrated and it's no surprise Richmond generally win when he's playing.

Playing 19 games (including injury-riddles matches), the former Sun should poll in a few games for his toughness and ability to extract the ball from stoppage.

Not the exciting one of the group which consists of Shai Bolton, Tom Lynch and Dustin Martin, Prestia is a talent and could help the Tigers' bid for premiership glory in 2023.

Bolton is also expected to poll for his breakout season.

Dion Prestia - N/A

Shai Bolton - $101

St Kilda

Jack Sinclair

Maiden All-Australian, Sinclair has been lighting up the field, rivalling Sam Docherty and Tom Stewart as the league's best half backs.

The 27-year-old has become one of St Kilda's most important figures, with his versatility and good ball use key features of his game.

Sinclair will most likely lead the Saints in Brownlow votes.

Jade Gresham is also showing glimpses of his potential, getting on the end of goals and gathering high possession counts.

Jack Sinclair - $N/A

Jack Steele - $501

Sydney

Callum Mills

Unlucky to make the All-Australian team in 2021, Mills put his best foot forward to redeem that oversight from selectors this season.

Averaging 25 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles and four clearances, the 25-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the elite midfielders of our game.

Mills is a barometer for the Swans - when he plays well they usually win - and could be in line to be sole captain in the near future.

Luke Parker and Isaac Heeney have had excellent seasons, with the latter pushing his claims for an AA selection.

Callum Mills - $41

West Coast

Tim Kelly

Not many positives have come from West Coast, winning only two games after facing a serious bout of COVID-19 implications that has crippled their list.

Tim Kelly has still been performing at a reasonably high level, despite the shattering and soul-crushing losses they've experienced throughout the year.

With not many players expected to poll that well, the former Cat looks like the most likely to lead his club, especially given his form of late.

Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling will poll at times.

Tim Kelly - N/A

Josh Kennedy - N/A

Western Bulldogs

Tom Liberatore

The Bulldogs midfield is the strongest in the competition, which has proven to be its downfall, as players tend to be put out of position.

However, Liberatore has been a consistent performer for Luke Beveridge, winning the ball in tight and denying the opposition easy access to their forward line from the centre.

The 30-year-old is in career-best form and could find himself with his second Charlie Sutton Medal.

Bailey Smith, Marcus Bontempelli and Jack Macrae are also players who tend to poll well while Josh Dunkley has had a strong stretch of performances throughout the year.

Tom Liberatore - N/A

Marcus Bontempelli - $201
