'Playing with fire': Eddie McGuire responds to Port Adelaide's prison bar stunt image

Former Collingwood boss Eddie McGuire has responded to Port Adelaide's prison bar guernsey stunt, saying the club are 'playing with fire'.

After they were banned from wearing the historic kit against cross-town rivals Adelaide on Saturday night, the Power players were seen in the prison bar jerseys after the game when singing the team song .

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch has said he will continue to fight for their heritage jersey, but McGuire told  Fox Footy  on Sunday that he was 'sticking his nose in'.

“Nothing from me...all I will say is, the AFL may be saying nothing, but that is a direct poke in the eye to Gillon McLachlan and the AFL Commission," he said.

"They are playing with fire now Port Adelaide on this. They have signed an agreement that they would not manufacture any of those jumpers for merchandise. As we have seen in the crowd, they are starting to overplay their hand a little bit here.

"It’s moved out of Collingwood and Port Adelaide, now they are taking on city hall, who give them $7 million a year more than the Collingwood Football Club.

"That’s fire – David Koch is sticking his nose into the AFL territory now.

"It’s a big-sized nose, I hope he doesn’t get it broken."

Port Adelaide are not permitted to wear their old-school jerseys because of the Magpies, who wear the black and white stripes.

The ongoing issue has divided opinion in recent weeks, and the comments from both Koch and McGuire seem to indicate it may not end soon.
