Just hours after Western Bulldogs vice-captain Lachie Hunter was reportedly charged by police for drink driving, Adelaide Crows young gun Tyson Stengle has also been charged with similar offences.

The 21-year old was pulled over by police in Adelaide's south-western suburbs for driving an unregistered vehicle, and subsequently recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.125.

In a club statement on Friday evening, Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said these were serious breaches of the club's standards.

“Tyson is deeply remorseful and embarrassed by his actions, and we have expressed our disappointment in his decision making,” he said.

“Fortunately, no one was hurt and he will receive appropriate education so he learns from this mistake.

“Tyson is a valued member of the Crows family and we will continue to support him through this difficult period.”

The statement also said that aside from the police investigation, the young forward faces sanctions by the club and possibly the AFL.

The AFL season is of course currently suspended due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
