Reigning premiers Melbourne have the most representatives in this year's All-Australian squad - which has seen its numbers bumped up to 44 from 40 - with six Demons named.

Minor premiers Geelong are the next best represented - five Cats have earned a nod.

Essendon and North Melbourne are the only clubs without a nomination, while Lance Franklin and Nick Daicos are among the most notable absentees.

The squad will be cut down to a 22-man All-Australian team to be announced on Wednesday night.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Andrew Dillon, Glen Jakovich, Gerard Healy, Chris Johnson, Cameron Ling, Nick Riewoldt and Brad Scott make up the selection panel.
